When I was in the Basque Country last month, I met up with Bart Farrell of the Basque YouTube channel Kontatu and invited him onto the Hella Basque channel. He is an American who has been living in the Basque Country for 8 years, so I figured he would be the perfect person to help newcomers to the Basque Country navigate their first visit.

Behind the Scenes: Hella Basque Shop
Since I got home from the Basque Country, I’ve been immersed in designing, testing, and publishing new products for the Hella Basque shop. It makes it hard for me to think of interesting Basque topics to write about this week.
My brain is swimming in holiday gift giving and what is the best way to serve you guys. It’s all I think about. It’s all I talk about. It’s making me a very boring person.
Right now the Hella Basque store has some collections of apparel, accessories, phone accessories, and home items. I’m working on expanding these offerings to give you more options this holiday season.

When I moved away for college, I left behind my Basque American community and felt very disconnected from my Basque identity. An isolation I imagine many in the diaspora may feel at one point or another.
My hope is that Hella Basque can help Basques in the diaspora feel more connected to their heritage, whether or not they have physical ties to a Basque community.
